7 Tips for Saving Money

1. Programming-ask all the right questions before starting design. Engage the entire team to benefit from their full range of expertise during design. Keep the design team size to the minimum necessary.


2. Make sure you can see the project inside and out in 3D before completing the design. 2dD drawings are useful but can't provide the same level of understanding of what your project will be like to walk through. Be available to respond to the design team's questions

3. Complete the design and documentation before starting construction. It is much less expensive to make changes to the drawings before building than undoing work and changing framing in the field. Detail before construction so the team doesn't have to figure out the work in the field-it will cause delays.

4. Work with top notch vetted contractors, confirm their availablity to continue the work without foreseeable interruptions. Meet the field supervisor and confirm that they will be there every day directing the work.

5. Build start to finish with minimal or no interruptions

6. Use a construction manager for complex or large projects to monitor the work quality, work progress and costs.
